This page is a reference and takeway for you to understand the initial Day 0 configuration required on an APIC within a Site prior to adding
it to the Multi-Site Orchestrator.
Simply, you must define Access Policies for Spine interfaces much like was done earlier in this lab. Then, you must create an Intrasite/Intersite Profile
that is used for various purposes such as VTEP addresses, BGP communities for EVPN, etc.
Step 1 - Create VLAN Pool
Navigate to Access Policies to create a VLAN pool for a physical domain by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
Expand Pools by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on VLAN
Click Create VLAN Pool
In the Create VLAN Pool popup:
We named the VLAN Pool: msite
Ensure Static Allocation is selected
Then click the plus sign (+) button to add the VLAN pool range
After clicking on the the plus sign (+) then you can enter your VLAN range for this pool:
VLAN Range: 4 - 4
Click OK
Click Submit
Step 2 - Create AEP
To create an AEP, naviage to Attachable Access Entity Profiles by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
Expand Policies by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Expand Global by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on Attachable Access Entity Profiles
Click Create Attachable Access Entity Profile
Create an AEP for your Physical / Layer 2 Domain that will associate to your Layer 2 interfaces.
In the Create Physical Domain popup:
Name the AEP: msite-aep
Click Next
You have not created the interface policy to associate this AEP yet, so you're going to skip Step 2 and just click Finish.
Step 3 - Create L3 Domain
To create an External Routed Domain, naviage to L3 Domains by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
In the left navigation pane, all the way the bottom, expand Physical and External Domains by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on L3 Domains/li>
Click Create Layer 3 Domain
In the Create Layer 3 Domain popup:
Name the Layer 3 Domain: msite-l3
Foe the AEP, select the msite-aep
For the VLAN Pool, select the msite vlan pool
Click Submit
Step 4 - Create Spine Policy Group
To create an Spine Policy Group, naviage to Policy Groups by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
Expand Interfaces by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Expand Spine Interfaces by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on Policy Groups
Click Create Spine Access Port Policy Group
In the Create Spine Access Port Policy Group popup:
Name the Policy Group: msite-polgrp
For Link Level Policy, select or create a 40G policy
For CDP Policy, select or create an enabled policy
For the AEP, select the msite-aep
Click Submit
Step 5 - Create Spine Interface Profile
To create an Spine Interface Profile, naviage to Interface Profiles by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
Expand Interfaces by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Expand Spine Interfaces by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on Profiles
Click Create Spine Interface Profile
In the Create Spine Interface Profile popup:
Name the Policy Group: msite-intprof
Click the plus button (+) for Interface Selectors
In the Create Spine Access Port Selector popup:
Name the Port Selector: 1 (for the Spine port used)
For Interface IDs, set to Spine port (for our fabric, that was 1/1)
For Interface Policy Group , the Policy Group from the previous section is used, msite-polgrp
Click OK
Then, once back at the Create Spine Interface Profile, click Submit
Step 6 - Create Spine Switch Profile
To create an Spine Profile, naviage to Switch Profiles by clicking:
Fabric
Access Policies
Expand Switches by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Expand Spine Switches by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on Profiles
Click Create Spine Profile
In the Create Spine Profile popup:
Name the Policy Group: Spines
Click the plus button (+) for Spines Selectors and add Spines S1 (101) and S2 (102) with their corresponding names
Click Next
In the Create Spine Profile popup:
Select the Interface Profile created for the Spine Multi-Site connections. We called ours msite-intprof.
Click Finish
Step 7 - Create Infra Tenant Intersite Profile
In the infra tenant:
Expand Policies by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Expand Protocols by clicking the toggle arrow (>)
Right-click on Fabric Ext Connection Policies
Click Create Intrasite/Intersite Profile
In the Create Intrasite/Intersite Profile:
Click Submit
Continue to the next section to finish adding Sites within MSO.
